What We Feel Like
In the middle of 2017, Joana Portela — an independent curator based in Lisbon — asks me to do my first solo show with her. This idea, after frightening me, hit me as somehow punk. In Lisbon, design and art circuits still have a long way to go together. To be able to help create a better dialogue felt right.
Together, we decided on a formal concept that would focus on the poster. The poster as an object of preference in my work and as basic communication device, but also as the subject of research and typographic experimentation. The posters were arranged on their variety of conceptual and physical possibilities. We wanted to ask people: what can a poster be?
The exhibition focused on my individual practice. It's a work that has a lot more to do with my own identity, and in some cases, it's something that crosses the line between art and design. This is possible because it happens collaboratively, with people with whom I share a common vision with. It’s about our own interests: music, cinema, politics. Thus, it also represents the way we are as we try to communicate these. It's about the way we think about certain topics. What we want to say and show. What we like to do together. "What we feel like".
